Packages that companies send by air cargo are governed by strict laws and legal regulations as established by the European Commission. These laws and legal regulations apply to all companies within the European member states. Companies that form a part of the logistics flow of goods have to follow complex inspections and procedures.

As a result of terrorist attacks (New York, Madrid, London), various measures have been taken to increase the safety of civil aviation. Legislation and regulations have been considerably adjusted, which has now resulted in the registration of Known Consignor and Recognized Air Cargo Employee (or Regulated Agent) for companies that deal with air cargo. To obtain this registration in the EU database (issued by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee) a number of conditions must be met.
